Leche Flan- literally means “milk custard.”  There are countless variations of this recipe in different countries around the globe- “Creme Catalan,” “Creme Brulee,” “Panna Cotta.” Leche Flan is a another “fiesta” dessert- easy yet decadent.

Leche Flan

makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

10 eggs yolks

1 can condensed milk

1 cup fresh milk

1 cup granulated sugar

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 F
  2. Whisk egg yolks until light yellow and thick
  3. Whisk in 1 can condensed milk and 1 cup fresh milk until well mixed
  4. In a small pot over medium-low heat- slowly stir sugar until melted
  5. Pour a thin layer of caramel into ramekins and then top with custard mixture
  6. Place ramekins into a baking tray or roasting pan and fill the pan halfway with water
  7. Place custard mixture into oven and bake until Leche Flan is set ~20-25 minutes
  8. Let Leche Flan cool then separate the edges of the Leche Flan from the ramekin and flip over unto a serving dish
  9. Enjoy!
